4 Habits from the most transformational program I teach

Share:

Someone recently asked me:

“Which of your programs is the most transformational?”

They were sure it would be one of my paddling programs.

Find Your Flow.
Costa Rica.
Private Instruction.

And yes, those programs are powerful. They build skill. They build courage. They build community.

But my answer surprised them.

Because the most transformational program I teach doesn’t happen on the water.

It happens in your kitchen.
In your morning routine.
In the quiet conversations you have with yourself.

It’s actually the Reboot & Refuel Seasonal Reset.

And over the last decade, it has quietly become one of the most powerful containers for transformation I’ve ever created. And, having just finished the Spring reset this past week, the power of it is more present to me than ever! The feedback continues to blow my mind every time.

Below I share with you 4 of the habits we focus on so you can try them out for yourself, but before that, I want to share…

The Transformation (In Their Words)

Here’s what this Spring Reset participants said about their experience:

“The Reset worked for me, and I’ve tried a few things that haven’t worked. It helped shift my mindset from disempowered to empowered – I can do this, and it works! I had enough real results that I’m actually convinced that this is something I need to continue to do.”

“It helped me remember that I’ve done hard things, and they’ve been really good for me. Keep going!”

“Each reset is an opportunity to put myself in check, and I really like that, and I always look forward to the next. Made me realize that I really enjoy, and feel better when I live a more mindful existence. When you said that performance is built on daily discipline, that really stood out to me.”

“My aha from the Reset is that I can do hard things and it’s really worth the effort. Making the effort sets a boundary with myself and it’s a boost for my self-esteem because it tells me that I’m worth the effort.”

“The biggest aha moment this week has been about letting go for me… letting go is less about loss and more about transformation.”

Why This Reset Works

When I first created the Reset, it wasn’t because I needed another program.

It was because these habits changed my life.

The daily discipline.
The way of eating that fuels instead of depletes.
The mental strength it takes to break old habits.
The boundaries.
The mindful mornings.

They helped me move from feeling scattered and depleted to grounded and powerful.

They helped me learn how to change the story I tell myself about what’s possible in any area of my life – on and off the water.

And I see that same story shift in the participants, which is really moving and cool.

What the Reboot & Refuel Reset Actually Is

The Reboot & Refuel Seasonal Reset is:

• A 5-day guided online intensive
• Followed by 2 weeks of community integration and accountability within a WhatsApp community and with Zoom calls
• Designed specifically for paddlers and adventurers

You’ll learn how to:

✔ Implement daily habits that help you feel clear, strong, and energized
✔ Reset your digestion and nourish your body with seasonal, plant-based meals
✔ Regulate your nervous system so you respond instead of react
✔ Build boundaries that support your goals
✔ Create morning routines that set the tone for confidence

It’s about working with your body and the season instead of fighting both.

It’s about building the habits that support your paddling performance and your life.

4 Habits we practice together that you can try too

Here’s a small taste of what we practice together:

Lighten your meals
Shift from heavy winter foods (bread, dairy, fried foods, heavy meats) toward lighter soups, oatmeal, and colorful vegetables with plant-based proteins like lentils. The spices we use make everything deeply nourishing and delicious. Our favorite is garam masala – excellent spring spice mix!

Set boundaries to protect what’s important to you

Like the river needs banks, you need boundaries to direct the flow of your attention, energy and focus toward what’s important to you. When you say ‘yes’ to something you’re saying ‘no’ to something else. Choose wisely based on what you say is important to you.

Reduce snacking between meals
Let your digestive system do its job by fasting 3-4 hours between meals and 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. Train yourself to thrive in your discomfort zone, and deepen your awareness of how mindless eating sucks your energy and your joy. Believe it or not, this is the one habit that participants find the most transformational. Who knew…

Hydrate before you caffeinate
Lemon water before coffee. A wedge of lemon in warm or hot water to hydrate and wake up your digestive system.

Gratitude practice before your phone to protect your energy, attention and awareness.

Mindful movement to wake up your body, mind and rev up your digestion. This could be as simple as stretching, a short walk, PT exercises (in my case this past year) or yoga.

OK, that’s more than 4, but I like to over deliver :)

Small actions. Big ripple effect.

Because how you start your day determines how you show up when things get hard.

On the river.
And in life.
