Are You a “Someday” Goal Setter?
Someday I’ll paddle that river.
Someday I’ll take that trip.
Someday I’ll feel more confident.
I hate to break it to you… but there’s no “someday” on the calendar.
When you anchor your goals to someday, you quietly teach yourself (and others) that they’re optional. Nice ideas. Pipe dreams. Easy to postpone when fear, doubt, or life gets loud.
And maybe that’s been comfortable.
Or… maybe you’re ready to stop drifting in the eddy and actually move into the current.
Because here’s the truth: you are capable of more than your “someday” stories suggest.
How to Turn “Someday” Into Reality
1. Take Action Now (Even If the Goal Is in the Future)
You don’t have to wait to start.
One of the most powerful moves you can make is to put a real date on a real calendar. A trip. A river. A commitment. Deadlines create clarity—and clarity creates momentum.
Put some skin in the game:
Book the trip.
Put down the deposit.
Schedule the days on the water.
Commit to weekly practice, training, or mindset work.
When the date is real, your follow-through gets real too.
2. Turn Doubt Into Better Questions
Self-doubt isn’t a stop sign—it’s a prompt.
Try this shift:
“I can’t afford that” → How could I afford that?
“I’m not good enough” → What would help me improve?
“I don’t have the confidence” → How do I build confidence—step by step?
“I don’t have people to paddle with” → How can I grow my paddling circle?
Questions open doors. Statements slam them shut.
3. Share Your Plan
Dreams stay slippery when they live only in your head.
Say them out loud. Share them with people you trust. Let yourself be seen.
Yes—it’s vulnerable.
And it’s also how accountability, support, and momentum are created.
Community doesn’t just cheer you on someday.
It shows up when the day actually arrives.
